Overview

The current energy policy landscape can appear to be filled with conflicting messages and changing positions, which can create risks and challenges for engineering projects. In this talk from E3G, policy experts will cut through the noise and explain the key underlying themes and directions in international energy policy and politics. The talk will explore the key considerations driving policy positions, from security to climate, economics to geopolitics – and what this can tell us about likely long-term direction of travel. The speaker will also highlight case studies of how these considerations are shaping policy in individual nations and regions.

E3G are an international, independent think tank, with a focus on translating climate politics, economics and policies into pragmatic, achievable action.

This webinar (09:00-10:00 BST) will be followed by the Clean Energy Special Interest Group's annual meeting (10:00-11:00 BST).

Speaker

Chris Galpin, Senior Policy Advisor, E3G

Chris is an energy policy and politics expert at climate think tank E3G. His work focusses on energy pricing, energy strategy, and supply chain development in the UK. Chris has over 9 years experience in energy policy, including over 5 years working for UK government. He is currently a member the UK Government's Warm Homes Workforce Taskforce, and the NESO Gas Advisory Council. Before moving into policy, Chris trained as an engineer and has previous experience in both the renewables and clean heat sectors.
