Overview

The Joint Victorian Chemical Engineering Committee (JCEC), Cleanaway and Circular Plastics Australia (PET) warmly welcome you to this plant tour to the CPA (PET) plastic recycling facility, Altona North, Victoria.

Circular Plastics Australia (CPA) will provide a tour of its PET Plastics Recycling Facility, a joint venture between Pact Group, Cleanaway, Asahi Beverages and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners. Opening in December 2023, the facility recycles the equivalent of approximately 1 billion 600ml PET plastic bottles each year.

• Consumers recycle via kerbside and CDS and Cleanaway collects and sorts
• Circular Plastics Australia (PET) processes and pelletises into food-grade recycled plastic resin
• Asahi Beverages, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners and Pact Group remake the recycled resin into new packaging
• The packaging is sold to consumers in Australia and New Zealand, creating a circular economy

Visitors will view the operations and gain an understanding of the processes and challenges required to turn wastes into useful feedstocks and resources – the circular economy in action. Learn how our teams of operators, engineers, and environmental technicians work together to manage the technological and environmental challenges.

The tour at the Altona North Victoria site will give visitors a firsthand look at the transformative journey of recycling. This will include how material enters the site, is subsequently sorted, flaked, washed and extruded into food grade PET pellets.
