Our speakers will share their career journeys, including the key transitions, opportunities and challenges that have shaped their professional development. They will provide practical insights into moving beyond technical roles and developing the skills required to succeed in areas such as people leadership, project management and broader management positions.
This event will give early-career engineers a clearer understanding of the diverse career opportunities available within the chemical and process engineering profession. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn from the speakers’ experiences and consider how their own careers could develop over time.
Speaker
Amy Vetier, Technical Manager, Ampol
Amy Vetier is the Technical Manager at Ampol’s Lytton Refinery and a Chartered Chemical Engineer with over 15 years of experience across refining, oil and gas, engineering, and major project environments. Throughout her career, Amy has held a diverse range of technical, operational, project, and leadership roles in Australia and the United Kingdom. She is passionate about developing people, strengthening technical capability, and helping organisations navigate complex operational challenges. A University of Queensland University Medallist and First-Class Honours graduate, Amy is currently undertaking an MBA while continuing to lead strategic improvement and process safety initiatives in one of Australia’s most complex manufacturing environments.
Nathan Harrower, Operations Manager - Casting, Rio Tinto - Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL)
Nathan commenced his career in Industry as a Graduate Process Engineer at Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL) in 2012 and has been working with Rio Tinto for 15 years. Nathan has experience in process engineering, business improvement, frontline leadership and strategic/operational leadership, working across multiple Rio Tinto sites and currently is in the role of Operations Manager – Casting at BSL.
